One thing I have frequently noticed whether it is from meeting someone at NBA Summer League or in another capacity is that people often like to use their first names only and here is the problem…

I often get text messages that say, “Hey, this is Tony!” “Hi John, this is Sarah!” “It was great meeting you, this is Steve!”

Unfortunately, about half the time, I have no idea who it is messaging me. I may respond with a, “Sorry, could you remind me of your full name?” or the more likely route, I offer a kind response but nothing substantial because I don’t know who you are and the conversation likely ends there because I don’t have a full name to put in my phone.
