Personal Note and Update – Merging Substack & Website
Hello all, John here. Thanks for being a part of GET IN THE GAME 101. It started with one article that turned into another… and as the questions poured in, I’ve tried my best to keep up! When I started the site, I hoped to continue to be able to offer insights to those of you hoping to achieve your dream of working in the NBA one day. It’s a dream I had since I was a kid and getting to take part in it meant the world to me.
I always believe a dream is worth chasing.
And not just to achieve the dream.
But it’s about who you become along the way, whether you achieve the dream or not. Because who you end up on the other side is always what’s most important.
I’ll intersperse personal stories on here, answers to your questions, and some interviews with other NBA employees.
I am headed out of the country for a month, doing some refugee work at the Ukraine border. There’s always more to life than basketball, and I can’t imagine anywhere I’d rather be than serving those in need.
But in the meantime, I’ll get some posts scheduled so you’ve still got some content rolling in. And I’ll get back to your questions when I return… getting internships for next season is right around the corner.
Some of you are members of GITG101 on Substack and some of you are members on the website. Just know that either way, you are getting the same content. I started it out on the website and found Substack to be a much better space for the writing. In the next couple of months, I will have everything merged and embedded but as for now, wherever you are subscribed, just know that you’re not missing out on any new content.
And also know, I’m rooting for you.
When I first started really chasing my NBA dream, I googled, “NBA Jobs,” and went from there. If you’ve found my articles, I’m sure you’ve been in the same mode of hunting for information that will help you get to the next step. And I believe your determination will definitely help you get to that next step.
