A good chunk of our content throughout the year gears up towards NBA Summer League. It is a place where connections are made. Networking takes place. And prospective interns and employees are hired or take one step closer to achieving their goals.
At GITG101, we host 4 courses throughout the year: NBA Training Camp, NBA Trade Deadline, NBA Draft, and our Summer League Crash Course (which is always the most attended).
If you’ve been a part of one of our courses, it’s not just a ‘how to,’ it’s about building real relationships and connections. Not networking for networking sake but literally, making friends in the industry.
With so many of us connecting regularly over the last couple of months, we wanted to have an evening where we can all follow-up from our Summer League experiences. This is an open invite to all whether you were able to attend Summer League or not.
I asked some of my team and those who attended Summer League for some of their impressions and favorite part of Summer League:
*Meeting everyone in person and catching up with those I don’t get to see very often. A lot happens over the course of the year and it’s fun to get up to speed on what everyone is up to, this is the perfect venue to just hang out, talk hoops and figure out the next steps
*Meeting up with a group of GITG101 students. It sparked a similar feeling to seeing your cousins at a family reunion. Guys like Alex B, Phillip, and Alex L took the time of their day to chop it up with me and it’s cool seeing them in person rather than from behind a screen. Getting to know past guys like Matthew and Jeremy was a fun and personal experience as well
*Reconnecting with people I have met over the years and hearing about their lives / careers. The connections you make at Summer League can be lifelong. Take advantage of the opportunity by focusing on making friends and colleague rather than trying to line yourself up for a job
*Getting to meet some familiar faces and experience / enjoy this event together. It’s an incredible way to get your feet wet in what is a professional yet comfortable environment. Those in-person meet ups are so much deeper than a conversation behind the screen. I truly left SL wanting to see each and everyone I met with succeed
*Getting to meet people I have known virtually over the years, and being able to have genuine conversations with guys in the League instead of just over the phone. Spending time with the GITG101 crew and watching games was the best part of Summer League. Another really cool aspect is being able to see NBA Legends, players, and GM’s walking the concourse where you can initiate quick conversations with them
*The best part was meeting up with friends I had only known over Zoom and text and being able to watch games with them. It’s amazing how enjoyable it is to watch basketball with friends, especially at an event where you can watch so many back to back
If you found a common denominator there, it’s connection. Connect with us here tonight:
