What are the Requirements?
I get this question a lot. I would say that it’s not so much about requirements as it is about guidance. My goal, the goal of GITG101, is to help you achieve your dreams & goals. A lot of you are currently GA’s or Student Managers or in other roles within basketball. And that is exactly what you should be doing if you want to work in the NBA. My goal is to support you and work around your schedule. We will have classes but I (John Ross) will also be available by phone.
The first on-line Zoom session will be on September 28. Training Camp will be September 28, October 5, 12, 19. The full-season will take place on the first Wednesday of the month from November-May.

For International students, we will also make sure to have availability within your time zone for live classes and communication.

Responses from members of last classes / cohort:
I chose to sign up for the course to learn more about the NBA, learn more about team departments and decision-making, and expand my connections within the industry.
The journey is LONG. Hearing from so many different people about their pathway to working in the NBA was incredible, and the main thing they had in common was the amount of sacrifices they made in order to get to where they were.
Just all of the knowledge that I gained, and the connections that were formed. I walked away with a better understanding of things, and friends to talk ball with.
My biggest takeaway from the course was that basketball is a small world and everyone holds their own path to get to where they want to go as they follow their dreams.
You will learn a lot and have a lot of fun in the process. Can't ask for much more than that!
This course connected me with talented peers and people who have been where I want to be. They teach a great course and I'd sign up for it again.
I gave up on my dream of working in the NBA a long time ago - money and free time are too important to me to give up - but I still nerd out about the NBA draft and prospect evaluation in my free time. The subject matter of this course was fascinating to me and even though you branded it toward job seekers, I think hobbyists like myself can really find value in the way that you ran things. Thanks again!
John Ross is a real, authentic, and genuine person that I have no doubt will continue to change lives and basketball careers with his willingness to share his experiences in the game of basketball. I can confidently recommend John’s classes to anyone looking to advance their career or their knowledge about the industry because John has dedicated so much of his professional life to helping others reach their goals. Few people do that, and even fewer do it as well as John. For that reason, I’ll always support Get In The Game!!
I received word of this opportunity through a mutual connection in the student-manager world. Immediately, I jumped on the opportunity to sign up (despite the cost) because I knew I would come through the course better than I came in. That was certainly the case for a few reasons: connection, knowledge, and skill. Through John Ross’ NBA Draft course, I was able to make baseline connections with more than half of my classmates and strong connections with my cohort group. On top of that, my all-around knowledge of the NBA (scouting, operations, coaching, etc) increased as a result of the guest speakers’ stories, Q&A sessions, and after-hour conversations. I would suggest this course to anyone looking to connect and move up in the industry of basketball. The learning is real and the hosts genuinely want to see you succeed! It was an experience I will never forget!
