When I worked in the NBA, I often heard scouts snicker about finding ways not to post their work and opinions.
They would find ways to group players or assign generalities rather than have an opinion. In this way, they could never be accused of grossly misevaluating a prospect or being held accountable by a GM or Owner.
If you already have a job in the NBA, you can get away with shortcuts and working towards job preservation rather than putting your work on the line… but if you’re looking to get a job in the NBA, you’re not afforded that luxury. Putting your work on the line is key to actually getting noticed.
