When I first started seriously pursuing my dream of working in the NBA, the No’s were overly abundant (and I took them personal).
I took some on-line courses, learned how to break down game film, started volunteering at a D1 school, and applied everywhere… and felt I deserved an opportunity.
I was flying out to meet people, anyone who would meet. And one day, I got back late on a Sunday night and overslept my alarm. I was late to my actual job the next day so decided to let them know I was pursuing a career in the NBA. They were very supportive… but also, slowly took away my responsibilities at work until all of the ladder I had climbed, well, I was back at the bottom (which is part of why I tell you, don’t tell your workplace until the other side is serious, not when you’re serious).
