What I’m Listening To: Mind the Game with LeBron James and JJ Reddick
Whether you are a LeBron fan or not, there are many things to appreciate about him and what he brings to the game. His longevity with the level he is currently performing at is unmatched. Jordan may be your GOAT but when it comes to who has had the NBA GOAT career, LeBron is in a category by himself.
Aside from liking or not liking his style of play or his style of leadership, his ability to care for his body and perform at a high level into his upper 30’s is to be admired.
And his mind, how he sees the game, is a masterpiece in and of itself.
Which makes Mind the Game a perfect name for his and JJ’s podcast. It’s a must listen for those interested in learning the X’s and O’s from a player’s perspective. You’ll pick up NBA terminology and what goes through the mind of a player on the court.
What Book I Recommend: Tribes by Seth Godin
You’ll see this book recommended by me probably a couple of times a year on here. It’s a regular read for me and a book I frequently gift. I even landed in an ESPN article when I gifted it to Damian Lillard. Gifting it to Joe Cronin didn’t work out so well for me though ;)
What You Need to Know: Get to NBA Summer League the First Week!
I am currently in the planning stage of my own trip to Summer League and we will have plenty of articles in preparation for Summer League and even our Summer League Crash Course (highly recommend for anyone attending SL). But as you plan, my #1 recommendation is to go the first weekend/week. After the first few days, a lot of the people you want to meet slowly make their way out of Vegas. The first few days, most everyone is there. So plan for the first week.

We have already started to build out our cohorts for the NBA Draft Course and we sure do hope to have you as well! We’ve got an incredible lineup of guest teachers and simulation projects as you dive into this year’s NBA Draft.
For those who have taken a course prior with us, we are starting a SOTD (Stat of the Day) team. Everyone involved will get free Cleaning the Glass and Cerebro accounts to use in their statistics research. If you are interested in being a part of the team, email us at info@getinthegame101.com
It’s possible you’ve seen RECOVER 180 pop up in a local store or on your socials (with athletes such as Brock Purdy, James Harden, Austin Reaves, Jared McCain). I will be leading some of our West Coast markets (Portland, Seattle, San Francisco). If sports marketing is something you are interested in and you are located in those markets, feel free to reach out to me as we build out our team of Ambassadors (part-time).
